This is a bulletin board that Mrs. H always has up. Each month, there is a new theme that is embedded onto this board and into her classroom. During the beginning of each month, she brings the students together and discusses the new theme. This month was Courage. She explained what courage was and read a few books about courageous people. She also integrated history into this theme by talking about presidents and freedom fighters of the United States. At the end of the day, each student is asked to think of a courageous person that they discussed that day or how they can become more courageous. She then has the students record their answer onto a sticky note and has the students come and place it onto the bulletin board. Mrs. H asks all the students to come to the carpet and discuss what they see on the board.

I think that this is a wonderful idea. It's a great way to teach students about being good citizens. I like that this changes each and every month because it gives students the opportunity to learn a new characteristic and become better. Students are also able to see past historians who had these characteristics so it makes it more realistic for students. Students are able to relate to this and make connections as well. I would definitely have this incorporated in my classroom.
